Creativity: Bonus Tracks

Bara: to create
Create: to cause to exist
Tohu va Vohu: formless and void

“The ultimate meaning of the creation is found in the heart and purpose of the creator.” Walter Brueggemann

Last night at The Well, we talked about creativity. What we create. How we create. And most importantly, why we create.

Some things we touched on.
GOOD
BLESSING
SABBATH
ORDER
UNITY IN DIVERSITY

We explored practical ways to create.
WORDS
DESIGN
CREATE SPACE & FILL IT

Bara is used in Genesis 1. Bara is also used in Psalm 51. “Create in me a clean heart o God.”

Because creating a clean heart is something we can’t do. I don’t know about you all, but my heart is jacked up. On my own, my heart goes corrupt. Without God, my heart is corrupt. But a clean heart is something God can create. I even believe a clean heart is what God wants to create in me.

David’s prayer in Psalm 51 after his adultery with Bathsheba.

“Create (bara) in me a clean heart o God”

to take away the guilt.
to take away the shame.
to give me your purposes.
to give me your desires.
to let me see people the way you see people.

The question isn’t, are you creating?

Remember the quote from earlier?

“The ultimate meaning of the creation is found in the heart and purpose of the creator.” Walter Brueggemann

The question is, what’s in your heart?

Prayer (Join me in this prayer if you want God to change you from the inside out.)

“Create (bara) in me a clean heart o God”
