a thousand days and hours

you wonder how long its been since you’ve been here last.
a thousand days and hours in between night and the radiance of this now.
a man may walk a million miles in ten thousand dreams,
but weariness be not his only story.
although the pain of the months and years rests in his bones, and on his eyes,
night is not without a vaccine.
when the breath of exhaustion is heaved once upon once thousand more,
perhaps clouds then will have their veil removed.
then the light of the light of men will rise on the eastern shore.
the dark bows its knee,
and the dirge’s trudge quickens to leaps and bounds
for the radiance of joy is here.
