I Can’t Do It Alone

Today, I woke up a bit weary. Last week was really intense, and this weekend didn’t slow down. When I am tired, I like to avoid doing hard things. Like the workout that is waiting for me today. Now, what I’ve done most of my life is I have tried to suck it up, and go do the workout. Sometimes, I’m successful. Sometimes, though, I’ll let something come up that will keep me from doing what I need to do. So today, I did something different. I called my friend Kyler, and I reached out to him saying, “Hey bro, I need some medicine. I don’t want to take care of myself today, but I need to go workout because I made this one of my goals.” So here is the conversation.

“What do you want?” Kyler asked.

“I want to be healthy,” I said.

“And how would that feel,” Kyler asked.

“Awesome,” I said.

“What else?” Kyler asked. “Awesome isn’t enough.”

“I would feel light, I would feel like I’m worth it, and I would feel more confident,” I said.

“So what is in your way?” Kyler asked.

“I am. I’m feeling lazy, and want to dodge the difficult thing today,” I said.

“So what kind of medicine do you need?” Kyler asked.

“This. I’m good now man. I’m ready to go do my workout,” I said.

At this point I felt good. I know, a simple conversation with simple questions. Yet, they are very meaningful. The next words Kyler said though, jolted me, and woke me up to something very important today.

“You only have one life to live, so live it to it’s fullest!”

Ask yourself today what you want? How would it feel to do that? What is in your way? What do you need to get there? Four questions that have changed my life completely. I want to live a great life, but I won’t do that because I just happen to stumble into it. You don’t stumble into greatness. You work your way through trials and difficult endeavors to become great. It is hard work, but it is worth it. You may be one of those people who does everything alone, but I’m just not strong enough to do that. I need people in my life. I reach out to them. And I am better for it. So to all of you who give me encouragement, love, and passion to move forward, thank you.

What do you want today? What do you need to get there? Don’t withdraw, isolate, tell yourself you’re not worth it. Get up and do something different. Make a call, reach out, and let someone love you out of the hole you are in. I can’t do it alone. Can you?
