Lift

Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. Isaiah 40:26

When I wake up in the morning, I often begin to think of all the things I need to get done in that day. Sometimes, I think about things I wish I was doing, or want to do someday. Maybe you’re like me in having scattered thoughts.

Isaiah encourages us to slow down, and focus on our Creator. In case we feel like we have huge obstacles ahead of us and burdens to bear, Isaiah tells us to lift our eyes to the one who created the stars and calls each of them out by name.

Because of His great power and mighty strength not one of those stars has gone missing. If God has names for his stars, how much more does He see us, and call us, His children by name?

David asked a question of God one time. “What are mere mortals that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?” Psalm 8:4

If we feel distant from God, or that He is distant from us, we can feel like we’ve gone missing in His sight. We haven’t. God sees us.

In the rush of today, take a few moments to look up to the Creator. Think on His power and strength. Know that He is with you. Choose to trust Him, and invite Him into every part of your day.

Questions For Reflection

1) What comes to your mind when you think of God?

2) Do you think God is personally interested in your day?

3) What would change if you trusted God with the big and small things today?
